My first sculpted cake and experience with fondant (home-made, thankfully, so it tasted better than most fondant out there). The base of the dragon is made by cake mixed with enough frosting to make it like playdoh, and the tail, head, and legs are formed of fondant. I then painted the fondant with food coloring mixed with edible silver powder to add a metallic sheen.
Due to the amount of fondant, I think this guy would make an excellent topper on a normal cake, which would taste better (I'm not a fan of marshmallows, so fondant isn't the best thing in the world in my book). My brother-in-law has requested a dragon cake, so I think I'll make one in the red and gold scheme and put him atop a pile of gold coins on a chocolate cake.
